We arrange interiors with the project. What does cooperation with an interior designer look like and how much does it cost?

Utworzono: 06-03-2023

People from outside the industry associate interior design with unnecessary expense and luxury. After all, each of us knows how we want to live, and interior design is nothing more than choosing the right furniture, wall colors, floor finishes and choosing accessories. Today we are talking about the actual work of an interior designer and the costs of the project with two outstanding designers: Agnieszka Kułakowska and Agata Piltz.

What does an interior designer do?

The work of an interior designer consists in designing and arranging residential, commercial and public spaces, such as apartments, houses, offices, shops, restaurants, hotels and exhibition spaces. An interior designer creates an inventory, conceptual design, detailed design and visualization of the interior. What else does an interior designer do?

The selection of furniture, colors and materials is a comprehensive arrangement of the interior of the apartment. Thanks to the interior designer, we have a precise list of necessary elements ready. An interior designer, using specific materials and objects in the project, immediately includes them in a detailed shopping list for the client. Thanks to this, making an order and choosing furniture is not a problem, because the customer receives detailed descriptions and even addresses of specific stores or wholesalers.

Why should you hire an interior designer?

There are many reasons why you should hire an interior designer. Ultimately, an interior design service is an investment. It will pay off in the form of a functional, aesthetic interior for years. What are the most important reasons why it is worth investing in the service of an interior designer?

  1. First of all, you don't waste time running around shops, showrooms or looking for a good quote.
  2. Secondly, engineering knowledge. Because you don't need to know everything. Our team is constantly expanding its knowledge to stay up to date.
  3. Thirdly - a huge team of proven professionals; carpenters, contractors, blacksmiths, plasterers, glaziers, stonemasons, etc.

At what stage of construction should you look for an interior designer?

The designer enters the interior of the house in a closed shell and it turns out that the elements that the investor dreamed of are not possible to implement. So when to look for an interior designer so that he can influence the installations, prepare a work schedule and approximate the costs in the field of interior design?

Agata Piltz - P2 Pikiel & Piltz

Preferably in parallel with the architectural design and before we buy the finished property, which is worth assessing with the selected architect. Why? Because developers often insert smaller furniture into the arrangements. Contrary to appearances, everything fits on the projection. However, when we insert the real dimensions, it turns out to be completely different. In addition, developers employ cubature architects to design the apartment, who do not plan the apartment in terms of ergonomics of use. Their task is only to insert a few pieces of furniture and maintain the lighting parameters of the apartment. It is also worth realizing that the implementation of the project itself can take up to half a year. Therefore, to look for an interior designer should be min. 6 months before the renovation or completion of the investment.

Cooperation with an interior designer step by step

Collaboration with an interior designer usually follows several steps that allow you to carefully plan and think through every aspect of the project. Which stage of the project is the most important?

The most important thing is the relationship, getting to know each other, and then working according to worked out work patterns. It's best to find a common language at the beginning. If we immediately feel that these are not our vibes, it is worth resigning from cooperation. Thanks to this, cooperation will run smoothly and pleasantly. We start with an analysis of the client's needs, then we make concepts on this basis, and boards showing the style of the interior, of course, to choose from. The next step is to work on the final plan and invest in 3D views. In the meantime, we create a budget, final drawings and valuations of specific materials.

The studio, which has been carrying out professional projects for years, uses only proven solutions. The functional design meets the highest standards, and each room is modern and cozy. Complete interior design from scratch only seems to be easy for completely inexperienced people. In fact, the interior designer deals with the execution of the lighting design, 3D visualization of each wall in the apartment, as well as precise instructions in the documentation for individual contractors working on the renovation.

Interior designer - prices of services and payment methods

The price range of interior designers depends on many factors. How much does interior design cost?

Agnieszka Kułakowska, Understudio

The price of the interior design is shaped primarily by the package of services. The investor can limit himself only to the conceptual design. However, it is worth choosing a comprehensive service offered by a good interior designer. It contains the so-called author's supervision, i.e. cooperation with renovation contractors. The team receives specific tips and instructions on how to finish and arrange each room. In this way, the interior design of the apartment or the interior design of the house is best reflected in reality. The final price of the project depends on the area, location and complexity of the project. An interior designer's project usually costs from several hundred to several thousand zlotys per square meter.

What to look for when choosing an interior designer?

Choosing an interior designer is a key step when planning a renovation or construction. What to consider when choosing an interior designer?

Agata Piltz - P2 Pikiel & Piltz

First of all, opinions and completed interior designs of apartments. If the bridges are burned, the designer will have nothing to show. Our clients are always happy to show completed investments to our next clients. This is the best recommendation. An interior designer must have experience and a university degree. Because there are a lot of "specialists" on the market after several week-long courses, where you can learn little. The last verifying element is the implementation. If the interior designer's portfolio contains only visualizations, it means that it was not possible to take pictures of the interior at the very end. And that gives a lot to think about.

Agnieszka Kułakowska, Understudio

Independent private interior designs are not easy and require many decisions that can cause dilemmas. Therefore, in many situations it is worth trusting professional interior designers. The experience of a professional interior designer helps investors to renovate with precision and within a reasonable budget. The individual interior design service also has the option of supervision by an interior designer over the implementation of the entire project. Executive design to coordination of implementation is the best solution for customers who lead a dynamic lifestyle.

What should you know about the scope of work of an interior designer?

Let's summarize the valuable facts in the field of interior design through the eyes of the designers themselves:

  • An interior designer has experience and knowledge gained at university.
  • A good designer in his portfolio will have photos of the implementation, not just visualizations of the interior.
  • Professional interior design covers all stages of the project: from the concept, through visualizations, to the cost estimate and supervision of professionals.
  • Architects' prices range from several hundred to several thousand zlotys per square meter of the investment. The prices of apartment designs depend on the selected package of services, area, complexity of the project and the designer's reputation.
